Eugenio MartÃnez
Eugenio ( Musculito ) Martinez ( born July 8, 1922) aka Those Valdes was one of the five Watergate burglars. He was the " photographer" of burglars group.
Martinez was Cuban exiles and a veteran of the failed Bay of Pigs invasion. Bernard Barker (another Watergate burglars ) testified to him " over a hundred secret landings in Castro's Cuba. " CIA monthly paid him $ 100 for information from Cuba.
In the winter of 1962 it was rumored that two officers of the Red Army wanted to run on Cuba to the United States. A small group with Martinez and Virgilio R. Gonzalez (another later Watergate burglars ) made in June 1963 in a secret mission on the way to Cuba to find these officers. This action, however, was unsuccessful, so they returned.
Martinez was already at breaking into the office of the psychiatrist of Daniel Ellsberg defense analysts involved ( because he had leaked the secret Pentagon Papers about the Vietnam War to the press ). Another Watergate burglar Frank Sturgis was a friend of the columnist Jack Anderson. He made Anderson also known with Martinez. At the time of the break room 214 was rented in the Watergate Hotel for Martinez and Barker. During the slump he was in the employ of the CIA ( he had even a CIA advance execute ). In the Watergate trial, he pleaded " guilty. " Martinez also said to have received $ 10,000 from the slush fund of the Committee to Re- elect the President (CRP ) to pay his lawyers.
Today he works in the real estate business in Miami, Florida.
