Eugenio Tosi

Eugenio Cardinal Tosi OSSCA ( born May 6, 1864 in Busto Arsizio, Varese province, Italy, † January 7, 1929 in Milan ) was Archbishop of Milan.

Life

Eugenio Tosi studied in Monza and Milan fan Catholic theology and philosophy. He received on June 4, 1887 Sacrament of Holy Orders, and then worked as a parish pastor in the archdiocese of Milan. In 1889 he entered the Congregation of the Oblates of Charles and St. Ambrose. From 1889 to 1909 he taught at the mission of the Oblates in Rho. From 1909 to 1911 he served as Vicar General of the Administration of the Diocese of Rimini.

1911 he was appointed by Pope Pius X. Bishop of Squillace. The bishop ordained Eugenio Tosi by Andrea Carlo Cardinal Ferrari. Benedict XV appointed him in 1917. Bishop of Andria. On March 22, 1922 he was appointed by Pope Pius XI. Archbishop of Milan, and took him on 11 December of the same year as cardinal priest with the titular church of Santi Silvestro e Martino ai Monti to the College of Cardinals.

Eugenio Tosi died on January 7, 1929 in Milan and was buried in the Cathedral of Milan.
