Eugeniusz Bodo

Eugeniusz Bodo (actually Eugène Junod Bogdan, born December 28, 1899 in Geneva, † October 7, 1943 in Kotlas, Soviet Union ) was one of the most popular Polish actors and film directors of the interwar period.

Life

He was born the only son of the Swiss engineer Theodore Junod ( Calvinist ) and the Pole Anna Dylewska ( Catholic) probably in Geneva ( others claim in Warsaw) and retained throughout his life the Swiss citizenship. The family moved in 1910 to Lodz, where his father, the Revue Cinema " Urania " opened. 1917 Junod moved to to Poznan and became a member of the local Apollo Theater. In 1919 he went with his new name provided ( he made ​​it from the first two letters of his middle name and from which his mother Dorota ) to Warsaw to play in various musical theaters. Individual roles, he also played at the city's Teatr Polski and at the Teatr Lutnia in Vilnius.

With the rise of talkies Bodo launched a new career. In about 30 strips, V.A. Music films, he worked with until 1939. In the thirties, he received several honors, including as the "King of the Polish actor ". He used his cinematic successes in the financial field. He founded in 1931 the film studio B.W.B. with and opened two years later, his own production company entitled Urania.
