Eulatal is since 1 January 2009 a city district of Frohnburg in the district of Leipzig in Saxony.

Geography and transport

Eulatal is located at the junction of Leipzig lowlands of the Saxon Castle and Heathland, about 25 km south of Leipzig and 10 km east of Borna. Through the district Flößberg leads the federal highway 176, through the districts Hopfgarten and Tautenhain the railway line Leipzig - Geithain ( - Chemnitz ), each with a breakpoint.

Eulatal divided into the districts Flößberg, Franconia grove, Hopfgarten, Prießnitz, Elbisbach, Trebishain, Tautenhain, Ottenhain and Alt- Ottenhain.

History

The district Flößberg is mentioned as Flogelberch the first time in 1206 in a document. The place was manor and had a medieval moated castle, which was later converted into a manor. During the Second World War a subcamp of the Buchenwald concentration camp was operated in place from December 1944 to April 1945, which were forced to do for the Hugo Schneider AG ( HASAG ) Forced labor in the armaments production in 1200 mainly Jewish prisoners.

The previously separate municipality Eulatal was incorporated into Frohnburg on 1 January 2009. Since 1 January 2008 the municipality Eulatal was part of the joint management Frohnburg.

The district Frankenhain is mentioned as Frankenhagen the first time in 1209 in a document. The place name refers to a Frankish settlement. It is designed as a road Angersdorf. The place Frankenhain is composed of the two sub- locations and Lower Franconia Upper Franconia grove grove.

The district Prießnitz is first mentioned in 983 in a deed of Otto II to the bishopric of Magdeburg.

The district Tautenhain is first mentioned in 1287 as Tutenhayn documented.

The district Trebishain, situated at the mouth of the Little Eula Eula in the Great is mentioned in 1260 as the first documented Tribe Hagen.

Memorials

A cemetery ( popularly called " Jewish Cemetery " ) on a forest path, behind the forest settlement of the road to Beucha abbiegend, reminiscent of the concentration camp inmates of the former concentration subcamp Flößberg, which on behalf of the Leipzig armor Hugo Schneider Aktiengesellschaft ( HASAG ) was built.
