Euler D.I

The Euler DI and D-II were powerful single-seat of the German Air Force in World War II.

Development

After the inferiority of the Fokker monoplane had become against Allied fighter aircraft in 1916 more and more obvious were the German aircraft captured French Nieuport company provided 11 fighter planes available to produce new designs along the lines of the prey aircraft. The Euler works of aviation pioneer August Euler in Frankfurt kept largely on the French model and built the DI and D-II 80 hp 100 hp rotary engine as almost lifelike copy of the Nieuport after.

Use

It is not known if the plane actually came in the front. From 1916, however, 30 DI and D-II 20 were delivered, which were used for training purposes.
