Eumenes pomiformis

In the potter wasps (or pill wasps, Eumenes ) is a genus of solitary wasps. In Germany, seven species.

The female builds a Lehmgemisch individual brood cells, which are placed on wood or stone or hung on plant stems. In the hatching an egg cell is stored.

Subsequently, the female goes on hunting, stuns the prey ( caterpillars and other insect larvae) with a tinge of her spine and carries them then flying to the nest one. Finally, the cell is completely sealed.

In Germany the genus Eumenes is represented by seven species. In Europe, a total of 24 species and sub- species occur.
