Eunice aphroditois

The marine worm Eunice aphroditois belongs to the group of annelids from the class of polychaetes and is mainly found in tropical waters.

The nocturnal worm can reach a length of up to three meters, with only a small portion protruding from the sand on the seabed. Usually, there is the animal in ten to fifteen meters. The body of up to 500 grams heavy sea dweller is covered with poisonous bristles, which can secrete a poison that even dangerous to humans, but may not be fatal.

Eunice aphroditois lurks on the seabed for prey. Via five outstretched antennae perseveres this until one of these sensor is touched and the victim is drawn in the sand and from about two inches measured worm is eaten in diameter.
