Eunostus

Eunostos (Greek Εὔνοστος, latin Eunostus ) in ancient Greek mythology was the patron deity of grain mills.

The oldest source, in which the female deity is mentioned, the Onomastikon of Julius Pollux (2nd century). The lexicographer Hesychius of Alexandria (5th century) writes that were set up in the mills idols order to watch over the correct dimensions of the flour. Later entries in Photius, in the Suda and Eustathius of Thessalonica seem to refer to the passage in Hesychius.

Otto Crusius suspected that there had been at Eunostos an epiclesis of Artemis, which by Alfred ship was rejected for etymological reasons.
