The silver beaks ( Euodice ) are a genus of the family of finches.

System

Within the family of finches silver beaks are considered as one of the original species. You probably have a common ancestor with the Elsterchen and Perlhalsamadinen. In ornithological literature, the species are sometimes assigned to the genus Lonchura, only recently ( Clements 2007), the genus is recognized again

Distribution area

The species of this genus have two very widely separated distribution areas. The African silver beak is transverse spread across the African continent from Senegal and Mauritania on the Niger, Chad and Sudan to Ethiopia and Kenya. The Indian silver beak, however, is to be found in India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and the eastern region of Oman.
