Violet organist ( Euphonia violacea )

Organists ( Euphonia ) are a genus of neotropical songbirds in the finch family. They form together with the five types of green organist subfamily Euphoniinae. Most organists are dark metallic blue at the top and at the bottom bright yellow. Many species have a contrasting bright forehead and white undersides. Some have bright blue spots on the head and / or an orange - colored underside. The distribution area includes grasslands and forested areas in Central America, the Caribbean Islands and South America. They feed mainly on fruits.
