Euphrosyne of Kiev

Euphrosina Mstislawna of Kiev (* 1130, † 1186 ) was Queen of Hungary.

She was born as the daughter of Grand Prince Mstislav Vladimirovich of Kiev I. (* 1076, † 1132 ). Her mother was the daughter of the Russian nobles Dimitrij Sawiditsch and second wife of her father.

In 1146, she married 16 -year-old Hungarian King Géza II of the House of Árpád. The couple had seven children, of whom two sons followed their father as kings of Hungary. Euphrosina had good contacts with the German princely houses and arranged the marriage of her eldest son Stephan connection with the daughter of the Babenberg Duke Henry II of Austria Jasomirgott.

Géza II died in 1162; his wife survived him by 24 years.
