Eurail

Eurail is a corporation based in Luxembourg, which offers different versions of railway tickets at flat rates. Eurail Passes are designed for travelers who want to travel Europe by train and will therefore only be issued to customers who reside outside Europe.

The Company

Eurail Group G.I.E. Founded in 2001, it replaced the previous group that drove the Eurail passes as well as the InterRail passes since 1959. The company is registered in Luxembourg, but has its main office in Utrecht. Shares in the Company are various rail and ferry companies in Europe that enable shared this kind of travel.

Customers

Eurail Passes are directed exclusively at customers who reside outside Europe. Also excluded are Russia and Turkey. Customers in Europe receive InterRail passes, except for the country of their residence.

The Eurail Passes are available in different versions:

  • The Global Pass is valid for touring 20 countries in the 1st class ( if any) and is valid for 15 or 21 days, one, two or three months. Flexible variants of the Global Pass valid in 10 or 15 days of your choice within two months.
  • The Select Pass offers the possibility from 23 European countries to combine adjacent 3-5 and to select 5-15 days of use within two months.
  • The Regional Pass offers 25 standard combinations of various European regions. Depending on the region several flexible options 3-10 days are available within one or two months.
  • The One Country Pass offers the opportunity to travel within the borders of 17 countries. Depending on the country offered within one month from 3 to 10 days. There is no One Country Pass for Germany and Switzerland. The two countries hold but with the German Rail Pass or the Swiss Pass on corresponding national rates for foreign visitors.

Discounts

  • Groups received the Global Pass with a 15 percent discount ( Saver ), young people up to 25 years, even single travelers receive a Global Pass second class 35 percent cheaper ( Youth ). Saver and Youth versions are also available for all other Eurail passes, with different discounts.
  • Even travelers from 26 years can opt for the second car class in most countries and then pay less for their Regional Pass or One Country Pass.

Prices

Depending on the scope, time frame, and car class, the prices are very different. A three-month Global Pass will cost $ 2,235. Adolescents up to 25 years to pay 2nd class $ 1,455. For ten days of your choice within two months 939 or $ 609 will be due. A Select Pass for five neighboring countries costs from 619 or $ 405 (five days within two months ).

A One Country Pass is different for each country a lot. 8 days within a month in Sweden cost $ 589 ( first class), $ 455 (2nd class) or $ 339 (2nd class for young people). In Slovenia there are on the same terms 255, 185 and $ 119.
