Eureka (after Greek εὕρηκα, I've found, Perfect of εὑρίσκω, I think) is a town with 26 097 inhabitants ( 2007). It is located in Humboldt County, in the north of the U.S. state of California. The metropolitan area has a size of 37.4 km ².
The city landscape is characterized by deep furrow -like valleys, " gullies ", and the Redwood Forest. Well-known features of the city are the many Victorian houses and the Pulp Mill On October 15, 1991, included Old Town Eureka as a Historic District on the National Register of Historic Places.
