Eureka is a town in the west of St. Louis County in the U.S. state of Missouri with 7676 inhabitants.

About three kilometers east of Eureka is the former City Times Beach, which was evacuated in 1983 because of dioxin contamination. The entire area was cleaned again and there set up the Route 66 State Park.

1961 Six Flags St. Louis was opened, making Eureka has now achieved nationwide notoriety.

History

The location of Eureka was created in 1858 along the railway line leading to the west. The Chamber of Commerce in Eureka indicates that the place was caused by the fact that workers investigated the best way for further routing and location for the next train labor camp for railway construction. When they arrived in the vicinity of the present town, they found that here must be the best place and they shouted " Eureka! ", The Greek word for "We 've found it! " and so, at this point the camp and from the later city.

Allenton
