Eureka (Nunavut)

Eureka ( Nunavut ) is the northernmost civilian weather station of the earth and also scientific research station and military base and training camp for all arms of the Canadian Army. The place is only about 1000 km from the North Pole to Ellesmere Island and 700 meters above sea level on the north side of the Slidre Fiords, the - from Eureka Fiord branching - located about 25 kilometers deep eastward draws in the Fosheim Peninsula. The station is supplied every two weeks from the air with fresh produce and mail. Once a year in late summer there is a basic supply of the supply ship.
