Eurelectric

Eurelectric (own spelling " EURELECTRIC "; Complete name: " Union of the Electricity Industry - " English "The Union of the Electricity Industry - EURELECTRIC ") is a trade association of European electricity industry.

Objectives and Activities

The association brings together representing the interests of approximately 100 national associations and individual enterprises at European level, lobbying in the context of energy economy and energy policy of the European Union. In addition, the Association provides information and public relations, promotes the exchange of information and experience between members, organizes an annual conference on e- business and presents an award to figures from the industry.

History

The Association was formed in 1999 by the merger of predecessor organizations UNIPEDE and Eurelectric. The former Eurelectric ( before the merger ) was a pure lobbying organization whose activities and members were limited to the EU. The association was founded with headquarters in Brussels in 1989. UNIPEDE (French International Union of Producers et Distributeurs d' Energie Electrique, English International Union of Producers and Distributors of Electrical Energy), however, was an already established in 1925 Federation of power generation and transport companies based in Paris, with members from all over Europe (non EU only) and also from other parts of the world came.
