Eurico Gomes

Eurico Monteiro Gomes ( born September 29, 1955 in Santa Marta de Penaguião ) is a former Portuguese football player.

Career

Gomes started his career in 1977 at Benfica. At Benfica he could celebrate his first Portuguese league title, which he won in 1977. He repeated this success in 1979. This year he also moved to city rivals Sporting Lisbon, where he again twice Portuguese champion. He was also able to win the Portuguese Cup and once again the Portuguese Supercup.

In 1982 he moved to the third wholesale Portuguese club, the FC Porto. He reached his greatest success. He won again twice the Portuguese title and one Portuguese Cup, he could further twice win the Portuguese Supercup. In Porto he also won the World Cup, European Super Cup, European Champions Cup in 1987. In the final against Bayern Munich, he was not used. During his time in Porto and the convocation of the European Football Championship 1984 in France, where Portugal was eliminated in the semifinals fell. Gomes played four times and got two yellow cards.

From 1987-1989 he was still playing at Vitória Setúbal, before he ended his career.
