Eurimages

The Film Fund Eurimages supports Europe the production of feature films and documentaries and animated films that are designated as co-productions between at least two EU Member States for a theatrical release. Activities, this non-profit organization also sometimes at subsidized distribution of European films abroad, unless the MEDIA Programme of the European Union takes precedence.

Structures

Legal basis of Eurimages is the "Resolution (88 ) 15 setting up a European support fund for the co -production and distribution of creative cinematographic and audiovisual works ( " Eurimages " ) " from the year 1988. It is a so-called partial agreement in Council of Europe.

The promotion funds flow in the form of "conditionally repayable loans ". The repayment obligation begins only with the onset of theatrical release of the film. The repayment is done according to the proportions of the participating producers from the net producer revenue.

Eurimages has 34 Member States: Albania, Belgium, Bosnia - Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Croatia, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Austria, Poland, Portugal,, Romania, Sweden, Switzerland, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Czech Republic, Turkey, Hungary, Cyprus and Macedonia.

Promotion extent

The Board of Management of Eurimages has until 30 June 2004 decided at its 90th meeting on 28 in Dubrovnik, 12 promote movies with a total of 4.645 million euros. Since its inception, the Film Fund of the Council of Europe has supported 1501 European co-productions with a total of 455 million euros. This includes one of the largest European films - without American participation, the thriller ' Black Book ' of the Dutch director Paul Verhoeven, with a budget of over 17 million euros.
