European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development

The European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development, usually known only by its acronym EAFRD, promotes rural development in the European Union.

The EAFRD was established by a regulation of the Council of the European Union on 20 September 2005 and came into operation in 2007.

The EAFRD has four priorities, which are also referred to as axes:

The implementation is decentralized to the Member States on the basis of general government plans that are stocky in Germany by each state specifically in regional planning documents ( so-called " development programs for rural areas "). The general government as the regional plans are subject to approval by the European Commission.

The EAFRD replaced the European Agricultural Guidance and Guarantee Fund (EAGGF ).
