European Architecture Students Assembly

The European Architecture Students Assembly ( EASA) is a meeting for architecture students from over 40 countries in Europe, takes place in a different host country every summer. It usually lasts two weeks and is organized by a group of students of the host country. It consists of workshops, lectures, exhibitions and networking events to which guests are invited from the predominantly academic field. Every year, some about 400 participants. EASA was founded in 1981 in England.

Organization

EASA is structured on a democratic basis. There is no formal structure, such as a club or similar. From the country one to two National Contacts ( NCs ) take over the coordination. In NC meetings will be decided by this, which is the next host country. The hosts set the number of places for each country and the level of participation fee. In addition to the registration fee, the meeting is funded by grants and sponsor funds.

Between the summer events at least a one-week Intermediate National Contact Meeting ( INCM ) takes place. The inCMS usually take place every autumn. These meetings discuss the National Contacts of all participating countries about past events, on the further development of EASA, on the principles (EASA Guide ) and any issues affecting the organization. An important part of these meetings are also getting the applications ( biddings ) of potential host countries ( both EASA and INCM ), which are discussed in detail in time-consuming meetings. The decision from these discussions is always consensual like. The inCMS a certain extent form the backbone of EASA.
