European Athlete of the Year Trophy
The choice of Europe's athletes of the year will be carried out by the European Athletics Association (EAA ).
History
It was first held in 1993 in the categories men and Women. Since 2007, the winner of the year are also awarded for the U23 range. The winners will be chosen by fans, media representatives, members of associations and a panel of experts who have 25 percent each voting weight.
The triple jumper Jonathan Edwards and Christian Olsson, the javelin thrower January Zelezny, the heptathlete Carolina Kluft, the pole-vaulter Yelena Isinbayeva, the high jumper Blanka Vlasic and the long-distance runner Mo Farah were honored twice.
