European Brewery Convention

The actual color of each beer is nothing more than a certain gradation of a certain brown shade, which extends with decreasing concentration over red, copper-colored and amber to golden yellow and light yellow. Also, the coloring power of malt is specified in EBC; here indicates the value which color strength can be achieved at a certain original wort content with the malt in question. However, the color strength of the finished beer still hangs next Malzfarbe and original wort content on many other factors such as the wort preparation, the pH of the beer or the fermentation process.
