European Democrat Students

European Democrat Students (EDS ) is a Europe- wide association of Christian democratic, conservative and liberal student associations and claims to be the largest European association of political student organizations. At EDS is the statutorily -anchored students of the European People 's Party ( EPP).

EDS was founded in 1961, long before appropriate party bodies like the European Democrat Union ( EDU ) and the European People's Party ( EPP). Currently, EDS consists of more than 40 political student organizations from 37 countries in Europe, whose ideological positions are held by the Christian Democracy and the center-right. The association represents the interests of claims to be about 1.6 million young people in Europe. German member of the European Democrat Students is the ring of Christian Democratic Students ( RCDS ). Austrian member of the Action Group (AG), in Switzerland this was until 2005 the SLS (Swiss Liberal Students Association ).

Chair of the EDS were, inter alia, the later Swedish Prime Minister Carl Bildt. From Germany belonged to the boards and Others Wulf Schönbohm, Gerd Langguth, Rudolf Henke, Fried Pflüger and Stephan Eisel. In July 2011, Juraj Antal (ODM Slovakia) was elected Chairman in Office.

EDS is associated with UNESCO and the Council of Europe EUR. The association organizes seminars throughout Europe, events, etc., and also cooperates with other student umbrella organizations and European organizations. The Association is based in Brussels.
