European Foundation for Management Development

The European Foundation for Management Development ( EFMD ) is an international organization with the legal form of an association, based in Brussels, which is concerned with the accreditation of business schools and individual management training programs.

Members

Founded in 1972, non-profit organization has over 760 members from the fields of business, education and training, public service and consultancy in 81 countries. Quantitatively dominate British members. A prominent member of the London School of Economics. The contribution for active members shall be at least 5,000 euros per year.

In Germany EFMD has about 44 members, including especially the DAX 30 companies, public and private universities, business schools and technical universities. The organization also supports the exchange of best practice and benchmarking in the areas of management training and education.

Operation

EFMD is recognized as a global accrediting body for business schools and their programs as well as for IT-supported learning. With EQUIS ( European Quality Improvement System) has created a European accreditation standard 1997, which many business schools as proof of quality is used ( in Germany first, the Scientific School of Corporate Management (WHU ) in Koblenz and the University of Mannheim). According to this standard (September 2011 ) are currently accredited 131 schools in 38 countries. The prerequisite is that already have completed the program three years course.

With CLIP (Corporate Learning Improvement Process), a method was developed, with which company's own corporate universities can recognize the quality of their work. CEL (Certification of e -learning) certifies companies and educational institutions a level of their e -learning activities which is scientifically based quality criteria. With the EPA's seal ( European Program Accreditation System) business schools can be accredited individual internationally oriented management programs since 2006.
