European Liberal Democrat and Reform Party (European Parliament group)

The Liberal and Democratic Group was a group in the European Parliament. It was founded on 23 June 1953 as Group in the Parliamentary Assembly of the European Coal and Steel Community. Parallel to the group was the party association Federation of Liberal and Democratic parties in the European Community, later the European Liberal Democrat and Reform Party. Accordingly, the Group changed its name to the Liberal Democrat and Reform Party in 1994. After the 2004 European elections, the Liberal co-founded the European Democratic Party ( EDP), the Group of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe.
