European Society of Radiology

The European Society of Radiology ( ESR) is a nonprofit association that represents the interests of Radiology and European Radiology over administration and politics. He has more than 52,000 members from 195 countries. The company is based in Vienna.

History

It was founded by a merger of the European Congress of Radiology (ECR) and the European Association of Radiology (EAR ) in 2005. Through the merger, the ESR benefits both the Congress infrastructure of the ECR and the EAR the political and organizational relationships. The activity of the Company is committed to patient benefit and the benefit to the pan-European health care system, according to their own statutes. This is to be increased by the financial and professional support of the ESR in science, teaching and research.

Activities

The core of the ESR is held annually in Vienna congress ECR ( European Congress of Radiology), which is the largest radiological congress in Europe. 2011 visited 20,120 participants from 100 countries around the world to Congress. 1350 Lectures and nearly 3,000 electronic poster presentations were presented at the Congress.

Further opportunities offers the ESR in various events, courses and publications to:

  • The European School of Radiology organizes specialized training seminars on radiological methods, the European Institute for Biomedical Imaging Research is active in the promotion and coordination of imaging research projects in Europe.
  • The medical journal European Radiology published monthly current and relevant studies and manuscripts.
  • Electronic e -learning platforms as EURORAD (a collection of radiographic teaching examples) and EPOSTM (a collection of poster presentations ) are operated by the Society for training and knowledge sharing purposes.
  • The program Invest in the Youth gives young doctors the free participation in the ECR, the hotel costs are covered by the ESR.

The ESR is trying to inform the public about the activities of radiologists. Since 2007, there is a poster campaign and a patient platform on the Internet that provide education and information to radiological examinations for patients.
