European Tyre and Rim Technical Organisation

The European Tyre and Rim Technical Organisation ( ETRTO; German European Tyre and Rim - expert organization ) was founded in October 1964, but existed from 1956 to 1964 under the name European Tyre and Wheel Technical Conference ( ETWTC, German European technical tire and wheels Conference).

According to ETRTO Statute of October 2008, the following objectives:

  • Promoting harmonization of national standards in order to achieve regarding the interchangeability of tires, rims and valves in Europe to install and use
  • Defining common dimensions and Last-/Luftdruckzuordnungen and guidance
  • Relate to the promotion of unrestricted exchange of technical information, the tires, rims and valves

Considering the fact that tires make a significant contribution to road safety, the ETRTO works with national and international organizations and legislative bodies in order to provide appropriate recommendations can.

The activity in the ETRTO is strictly limited to the technical aspects of tires, rims and valves, as they relate to installation and use.

Full Members of the Organization manufacturer of tires, rims and valves will have a production plant in a signatory country of the ECE Regulations of 1958 or 1998.
