European Union Contest for Young Scientists

The European Union Contest for Young Scientists is a science competition of the European Union. He reports to the European Research Commission.

History

The competition was founded in 1989 to promote cooperation and exchange between young scientists. It is held annually and is available to select winners of national science competitions such as Youth Research ( Germany ) or youth Innovative ( Austria ) open.

A precursor competition was organized annually 1968-1988 by the Philips company (European Philips Contest for Young Scientists and Inventors ). Among the prize winners were among the biologist and wildlife filmmaker Andreas Moser ( 1974), the mathematician Bewersdorff (1979 ), the physician and pharmacologist Lutz Hein (1979, 1981), the mathematician and mycologist Paul Diederich (1979 ) as well as the historian Alberto Montaner Frutos ( 1981).
