Eurovoc

EUROVOC is a standard developed by the European Union, given out and used thesaurus for indexing documents of the European institutions. EUROVOC is, by the Office for Official Publications of the European Communities, used by the European Parliament by some national and regional parliaments in Europe, national governments and certain European organizations. It covers all areas of activity of the European Communities, and is divided into 21 subject areas and 127 microthesauri. Overall EUROVOC descriptor includes 6645 and depending on the language version 150 ( Slovenian ) to 13139 (Czech) non-descriptors.

With the current version 4.3 ( available since 20 January 2009), the thesaurus in 23 languages ​​, including 22 official EU languages ​​( Bulgarian, Czech, Danish, German, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, Greek, Italian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Maltese appears, Dutch, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Czech and Hungarian) and Croatian. In addition, it has been translated into Basque by the parliamentary services in Albania, Russia and the Ukraine in the local language as well as by the government of the Spanish province of Biscay.

The EUROVOC thesaurus is freely accessible in all available languages ​​and may be licensed free of charge for use in your own projects.
