Euryglottis

Euryglottis is a genus of the family of the butterfly hawkmoth ( Sphingidae ).

Features

The species of the genus Euryglottis have similarity with those of the genus Manduca, but they are distinguished by their much thicker sensor. The head, thorax and abdomen, as well as the rails ( tibiae ) of all legs are densely covered with woolly hairs. This feature suggests that the animals are adapted to a life in high mountain areas. All kinds of missing pulvillus to the Prätarsen, but the animals have a paronychium with both sides of an elongated lobe.

Occurrence and life

The genus is widespread neotropisch.
