Euston Square tube station

Euston Square is an underground station of the London Underground in the London Borough of Camden and one of the oldest subway stations in the world. It is located in the Travelcard Zone 1, at the junction of Euston Road and Gower Street, near the University College. Here trains to the Circle Line, Hammersmith & City Line and Metropolitan Line. In 2011, 10.89 million passengers used the station.

The opening took place on January 10, 1863 by the Metropolitan Railway ( predecessor company of the Metropolitan Line) as part of the route between Paddington and Farringdon, the oldest subway line in the world. During several decades, the station was first called Gower Street and then received on November 1, 1909 its present name. Was established in 2006 at the Euston Road, a new main entrance, adjacent to the building of the Wellcome Trust, one of the largest charities in the country.

The name indicates that the station is close to the Euston Train Station. This, however, is more than 250 meters to the northeast, and is only accessible via a busy road; there is no connecting tunnel.
