Evangelical Lutheran Church in Southern Africa (Cape Church)

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in South Africa (Cape) ( English Evangelical Lutheran Church in Southern Africa, Cape Church ) is a Lutheran from several churches in South Africa and also known as the Cape Church. Structure

Currently, the Cape Church is divided into two districts with a total of 22 municipalities and has about 5,000 members (as of 2010 ). History

From its origins, the Cape Church is a German -speaking church, even if nowadays English and Afrikaans, the German who largely displaced. 1893 recommended the Zellerfelder Superintendent Emil Petri a visitation founded by the Lower Saxon emigrants communities with a connection to the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hanover. In the Cape Church the Hanover edition of the Evangelical Church hymnal was introduced in 1994.
