Evangelical Theological Faculty

The Evangelical Theological Faculteit in Leuven ( acronym ETF, Faculty of German Protestant Theology lions) is a nationally recognized university based in Leuven (Dutch Leuven) in the Belgian region of Flanders. All programs are accredited and those assimilated to Belgian universities.

History

The roots go back to the ETF, which was founded in Brussels in 1919 Bijbelinstituut België, a training center for evangelists who was also recognized on 28 May 1971 as a training center for teachers of religion and by 1975 Heverlee, a borough of the university town of Leuven, moved. 1981 the Evangelical Theological there Faculteit (ETF ) was established. On January 21, 1983, the ETF has under the applicable law of university education in Belgium by Royal Decree officially recognized in the awarding of licentiate and doctoral degrees.

In the Higher Education Act of 4 April 2003, which regulates the reforms within the framework of the Bologna process for the Flemish Community of Belgium, the recognition of the ETF is confirmed as the institution of higher education and the introduction of two -cycle system ( bachelor / master) from the academic year 2004/ 05 arranged. The academic degrees include the ETF since the bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees in theology and religious studies.

Within the framework introduced under the Higher Education Act of 4 April 2003 accreditation mandatory for all Flemish higher education courses was organized a visitation of the theological faculties of Flanders in the autumn of 2005 by the Flemish Interuniversity Council. Based on the positive results of the two-stage studies of the ETF as of September 2007 by the Dutch - Flemish Accreditation Organisation (NVAO ) were accredited.

Rector of the ETF is Patrick zeroing whose doctorate from the previous professor at the ETF and the STH Basel, the conservative German theologian Georg Huntemann was accompanied.

Courses

The three-year bachelor's degree in theology and religious studies is Dutch-speaking, during that builds two-year master's degree program in theology and religious studies is in English. Also, the Ph.D. Program of Theology and Religious Studies ( Dr. theol. ) Is international and English.

Both the Bachelor's and the Master's program have the following branches of study: Bible and theology, church and parsonage, religion and education. The latter study branch is associated with the formation of the Protestant religion teacher.

Research and teaching Old Testament, New Testament, historical theology, systematic theology, practical theology and religious studies and missiology are organized according to the six subject areas. In addition, the ETF three research institutions since the beginning of 2008 incorporated: the Research Center for Early Christianity, the Institute of Post- Reformation Studies and the Institute of Leadership and Ethics.

Equipment

Each of the six departments is staffed by at least two professors and lecturers additional and / or assistants. Overall teach at the ETF 16 professors, 6 lecturers, 8 assistants and 12 visiting professors (2007 /08).

In the renovated high school building with its own campus is among other things a theological specialized library with about 50,000 volumes. In addition, is open to students and professors which exploiting dividend in close proximity important library of Katholieke Universiteit Leuven are available.

Early 2008, the ETF total of 177 students and graduate students, including 78 bachelor's degree, master's degree in 51 and 48 in the doctoral program.
