Eve Titus

Eve Titus (* July 16, 1922 in New York City; † 4 February 2002 in Orlando, Florida) was an American children's book author. She was especially known for her book series Basil, the Mouse Detective and Anatole.

The five books of the inspired by Sherlock Holmes Mouse Detective Basil were illustrated by Paul Galdone. Eve Titus hoped the books aroused the interest of children, later to read the Sherlock Holmes stories. The children's books were well received in the Sherlock Holmes fan base, among others, by Arthur Conan Doyle's youngest son Adrian Conan Doyle, the devoted several books.

The series revolves around the adventures of Anatole France Anatole mouse.

Both series were adapted as animated films. Basil The Great Mouse Detective was published in 1986 by the Walt Disney Studios and a 26teilige series by Anatole appeared in 1998.
