Evelin Jahl

Evelin Jahl, née Schlaak, divorced Herberg ( born March 28, 1956 in Annaberg -Buchholz ) is a former German athlete who had - starting for the GDR - twice Olympic champion in discus throw was. In Montreal in 1976, she won the title under her birth name Evelin Schlaak, 1980, she was able to successfully defend him in Moscow. It is the only discus thrower, who get two Olympic victories.

The Olympic victory in 1976 was the beginning of a steep ascent: In Olympic competition, she defeated surprisingly the three years unbeaten world record holder Faina Melnik from the USSR.
