Evelyne Gebhardt

Evelyne Gebhardt ( born January 19, 1954 in Paris) is a member of the European Parliament for the Social Democrats since 1994. Their main topics are bioethics, consumer protection and civil rights. She is coordinator of the Socialist Group in the Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection. Gebhardt was instrumental in the so-called Bolkestein Directive.

Gebhardt completed her schooling from in Paris and studied at the University of Paris, the University of Tübingen and the University of Stuttgart after linguistics, with minors in political science and economics. She then worked as a freelance translator.

Gebhardt moved to Germany in 1975 and joined the SPD in the same year. Since 1985 she has been the Federal Executive of the Association of Social Democratic Women (ASF ), first as a committee member since 1992 as deputy national chairman ASF. Unless she is in Strasbourg or Brussels, lives in Mulfingen in Hohenlohe. It maintains a constituency office in Künzelsau.

For the 2004 European elections, she was favored by the party leadership as a top candidate for Baden- Württemberg. As a deputy she has worked in the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs, the special committee on organized crime, corruption and money laundering, in the Delegation for relations with the countries of South Asia. She is a member of the European Union Parliamentarians European Parliament.
