Everybody Hurts#Helping Haiti charity single

Helping Haiti is a charity project of British, American, Irish and Australian Pop, which was founded in early 2010 by music producer Simon Cowell with the aim to raise money for the victims of the earthquake in Haiti.

History

Under the impact of the earthquake of 12 January 2010 and several aftershocks in the following days, in which probably 200,000 people were killed, injured 250,000 more people and 1.5 million homeless, the British Prime Minister Gordon Brown stepped to the music producer Simon Cowell with the idea of ​​approach, along the lines of band Aid, record a charity single. Cowell chose for the song Everybody Hurts, originally performed by the band REM from the year 1992. Brown assured the exemption from VAT of side of the British government.

All proceeds of the single will go to the "Helping Haiti " fund the British newspaper The Sun and the Disasters Emergency Committee. The recording was first unveiled on February 2, 2010 at the BBC Radio 1 program of the public. The track was released as a single and download on February 7, 2010. In Ireland and the UK, the production debuted at No. 1 on the charts.
