Everytime (English for "Every time " ) is a song by American pop singer Britney Spears from her fourth studio album In the Zone. It was released on 17 May 2004 as the third single from the album by Jive Records.
Background
After Spears had ended their relationship with singer Justin Timberlake, she made friends with her backing vocalist Annet Artani. While Spears composed the music on the piano, the song was co-written with Artani in Italy. Everytime is a pop ballad. The lyrics are about forgiveness for inadvertent errors and injuries. In the music video Stephen Dorff plays the friend of Spears.
Reception
The song was well received by critics, and praised the simple text and the organic feel of the song compared to the other songs on In the Zone. Everytime was part of several concerts and was in two tours of Spears Onyx Hotel Tour (2004) and The Circus -Starring: Britney Spears involved Tour ( 2009). It is also part of her current Las Vegas show Britney: Piece of Me Everytime has been covered by artists such as Glen Hansard and Jackie Evancho.
