Evgeny Agrest

Evgeny Agrest ( born August 15, 1966 in Vitebsk ) is a Swedish chess player with roots in Belarus.

Agrest moved mid-1980s from Belarus to Leningrad, where he studied economics. After the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1994 he settled with his wife Svetlana (* 1966), which carries the international master title of the ladies in Stockholm down. Agrest was awarded in 1997 the Grandmaster title by FIDE.

He was for some years the best Swedish player Ulf Andersson ago. For Sweden, it took six times in chess Olympiads, namely continuously from 1998 to the Chess Olympiad 2008 in Dresden. Currently (April 2008) He is with an Elo of 2567 to the third place in the Swedish FIDE ranking list, which is led by Emanuel Berg.
