Evonik Industries AG [ evɔnɪk ], based in Essen is a publicly traded specialty chemicals companies. The company generates more than 80 percent of the chemical sales from leading market positions. Foundation

In September 2007 came with Evonik Industries, a new industrial group with business areas: Chemicals, Energy and Real Estate. Revenues generated by the Industrial Chemicals in 2010 rose by 22 percent to € 2,460 million. This division includes products for further processing in end use applications in the plastics, chemical, agrochemical and paper industry.

In the area of ​​Inorganic Materials (production of specialty chemicals ) sales climbed in 2010 by 33 percent to € 2,400 million. In Consumer Specialties, which supplies the consumer goods industry with raw materials, additives and active ingredients, grew by 25 percent to € 1,803 million.

Revenues in the Coatings & Additives in 2010 rose by 28% and amounted to € 1,701 million. This division offers a wide product range for the paint, ink and coating and the adhesive and sealant industry.

The Performance Polymers Business Unit is responsible for the production of high performance materials and achieved 1,657 million € turnover. Revenues increased by 28% compared to last year.

Investments

Energy

STEAG GmbH (formerly: Evonik Steag GmbH) produced in North Rhine -Westphalia and Saarland in eight coal-fired power plants with approximately 8,000 megawatts of power eight percent of Germany's electricity, it is now the fifth largest German electricity generators.
