Ewerthon

Ewerthon Henrique de Souza called Ewerthon ( born June 10, 1981 in São Paulo, Brazil ) is a Brazilian footballer and currently plays for América FC.

Career

Ewerthon began his career in São Paulo in the neighborhood club Roque de Morais, but moved at the age of seven years to the big city club Corinthians. After a short time at Rio Branco EC Americana, he moved back to Corinthians. With Corinthians he won the Brazilian championship in the 1998/99 season.

In the current season 2001/02 season the seven-time Brazilian international joined for about 7.1 million euros in the Bundesliga to Borussia Dortmund. In his first season in Germany, he won the German football championship with Dortmund. He scored on the last match against Werder Bremen shortly after coming on goal in a 2-1 victory over Werder Bremen and thus the decisive goal for the championship. In the same year, the UEFA Cup final was reached that unfortunate but lost 2:3 against Feyenoord Rotterdam. Ewerthon stood in the starting lineup and was replaced in the 62nd minute for Otto Addo.

In his Dortmunder time he scored a total of 47 goals and 17 assists in 119 league games. There are also 3 goals in 7 DFB Cup matches and 4 goals in 27 European Cup inserts. His personal best season was the 2003/04 season, when he had 16 goals and together with Jan Koller scorer of Borussia. That same season he was also replaced 14 times, this also meant season record at Borussia Dortmund. However, the participation was missed in the European competition in the season with 6th place in the Bundesliga.

In July 2005, he spent 3.5 million euros in the Spanish La Liga to Real Zaragoza, as Borussia Dortmund at that time was in a difficult financial situation. Through the transfer proceeds and the saved content for Ewerthon the financial scope of the then ailing Borussia should be improved. For Saragossa he scored 48 goals in 111 games, which thus means his personal best average of goals for a club team. In addition, he was able to move into the final of the Copa del Rey with Zaragoza in 2006, this was, however, lost 4-2 against Espanyol.

For the 2007/08 season he was loaned for a rental fee in the amount of 1.2 million euros for a year at the then reigning German champions VfB Stuttgart. VfB secured a purchase option to long-term loyalty Ewerthon to the association. Here, however, he could not go on his successful time at Borussia Dortmund and Real Zaragoza, in eleven games he managed only a goal and an assist.

Due to the weak performance in the first round of the loan contract has already been resolved during the winter break of 2007/ 08 between Zaragoza and VfB and Ewerthon was awarded for the rest of the season from Zaragoza to Espanyol Barcelona. A rental contract forbade use of a Ewerthon in a direct duel of the two teams in the Primera División.

After his loan contract was expired, he returned to Real Zaragoza in the 2008 /09 season he succeeded in 36 league games outstanding 28 goals. At this performance, he was not able in the season 2009 /10 in the first round he succeeded only 2 goals in 11 games and so he left Zaragoza during the winter break of the season 2009/10 final.

On 22 February 2010 Ewerthon moved to Palmeiras São Paulo. After almost a year at Palmeiras January 7, 2011 it was announced that Ewerthons contract with Palmeiras was dissolved by mutual consent. On July 16, 2011 Ewerthon signed a one year contract at Terek Grozny in the Russian Premjer League.

National

Overall Ewerthon played between July 2001 and July 2003, seven A- international matches for the Brazilian national football team. However, a goal he failed it. For the two falling in the time tournaments, the FIFA Confederations Cup 2001, which ended with the fourth place in Brazil, and the Football World Cup 2002, when Brazil won the world title, he was not nominated. With the Brazilian U20 national team, he could, however, win the 2001 U-20 South American Championship soccer. He was charged with six goals together with Adriano scorer of the tournament.

Play

In its heyday, the Brazilian was regarded as dribbling, extremely fast and statements happy. The two-footed attacking player was flexibly used as a hanging tip, as right or left winger or in the center.

Trivia

With Borussia Dortmund were in his time up to seven Brazilian simultaneously under contract; the "Samba -WG " with the club comrades Dedê is legendary to this day.
