The EWS Arena ( until May 2008 Hohenstaufenhalle ) is a multi-purpose arena in Göppingen. It can accommodate up to 5,600 spectators ( 4,100 seats and 1,500 standing places ) and 7 VIP booths, or at boxing matches for over 6,300 spectators. It was built in the years 1964 to 1967 in the northern city. In handball circles also referred to as the " Hell South ", which bears the hall with their very low ceiling because of their dense and heated atmosphere. History

The area of today's EWS Arena applies since the late 19th century as an adventure center in Göppingen. From 1897 was located on the site of a lake, the restaurateur George could accumulate shock from the Storz stream and named it after himself " Schockensee.
