Exchange ActiveSync

Exchange ActiveSync ( EAS ) is an XML - based protocol that communicates over HTTP or HTTPS. It is designed to synchronize e- mails, contacts, calendar entries, tasks, and notes from a news server with a mobile device. The Protocol and Device Policies and device properties can be adjusted among others.

Current Version

Currently Exchange ActiveSync in version 14.1, which was released as part of Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 Service Pack 1 on August 24, 2010.

V14.1 brought minor updates to the previous version 14.0 which was released as part of Exchange Server 2010, including support for the use of photos from the Global Address List (GAL) and Information Rights Management ( IRM) via Exchange ActiveSync, which allows protected e- mails also present on mobile devices.
