Exchange4linux

Exchange4linux was a groupware solution, the e -mail and Webmail Server services, shared address book, calendar, notes and tasks offered. The seamless integration of Outlook worked tools from third-party manufacturers as "PDA -sync " or " Duplicates Remover for Outlook" without any problems. exchange4linux was designed as an alternative to Microsoft Exchange or Microsoft Small Business Server.

The open source project was exchange4linux developed by the Neuberger & Hughes GmbH in Plochingen. The development was stopped in the course of the cooperation of Neuberger & Hughes and Zarafa.

Exchange4linux server suite 3.x, the commercial version of exchange4linux, included all the features of the open source solution, a web-based administration interface, Support and Software Maintenance. Optionally available is the Kaspersky Virus Wall and Easy PDF service.

Technology

Exchange4linux offered groupware functionality by connecting the Linux - based server by using Outlook clients. The communication between server and client is based on the free SWAP technology. Simple Workgroup Access Protocol improves the handling and availability of information. It could be used to exchange data workgroup to design their own web front-end or to develop connectors to other workgroup clients.

Outlook clients can connect from anywhere via VPN or HTTPS with the exchange4linux server virtually.

Exchange4linux there was as "easy-to -install" ISO image or as source code.
