Executive Producer

Executive producer (EP) is a professional in the entertainment industry, which is predominantly used in the film and television sector, as well as in the music industry.

As an "Executive" a director or active in management officer is called in the English economic system. In Germany is the translation of " executive " common, but misleading. In the actual sense would have the correct German translation of the executive producers are " executive producer ".

Definitions

He plans to finance, monitors the overall budget and its use. He leads the negotiations with broadcasters whose programming, advertisers and sponsors. He is also the ultimate decision-makers in the selection of writers, directors, actors, and production staff. The EP carries ultimate responsibility for the success or failure of the project.

Training and career prospects

An EP usually has completed a degree in mass media, communications or broadcasting / television and had previously worked several years as a rule, as the producer or production manager. At present, however, work in Germany also some EPs that come from senior positions other manageable professions, such as in banking. EPs are well paid according to the flexibility and skills required for this position. They are also sometimes share in the profits of the respective production company.
