Exemplification

Exemplification (Lat. explanation, proof by example ) is a term from the field of logical semantics and forms in Goodman's word use the antonym of denotation.

According to Nelson Goodman objects exemplify certain properties, such as a pie in the window of a pastry shop their style, ingredients, etc., but not every object exemplifies each of its properties. The cake in the window exemplified, for example, not the number of calories, sugar content etc.

A work of art exemplifies certain properties. So exemplified, for example, a gray sky and pale colors Tristess and hopelessness. Simply put, it is in the exemplification by a process of interpretation.

In Goodman's parlance, denotes a predicate such as " green " a number of performance objects, such as { frog, grass, leaf, apple, etc. }. The totality of the performance objects is called extension. "P, denotes x" and "x is subject of performance of y " are therefore synonymous expressions.
