Exhorder

Exhorder is a thrash metal band from New Orleans (USA). Exhorder are considered the inventors of the groove - oriented thrash metal, a sound that became known in the 1990s by bands like Pantera or Machine Head.

History

Exhorder are founded in 1985. A year later the demo Get Rude is recorded and Exhorder are taken from Mean Machine under contract. Two years later boarded Exhorder the studio to record their debut album. However, Mean Machine will enter bankruptcy, so that parts of the recordings will be published as a demo. Finally, Roadrunner Records take the band under contract and his debut album Slaughter in the Vatican will be published in 1990. The hard-hitting, aggressive thrash the band takes a lot of friends. The cover on which the Pope is dragged to the scaffold, ensures protests from various corners. After a European tour, bassist Andy Villafarra gets out. It is replaced by Frank Sparc Ella.

The second album The Law appears in 1992 and advanced to become a milestone of Thrash Metal. At least on this album, it is clear that the new sound of Pantera (from Cowboys from Hell ) is clearly inspired by Exhorder. Exhorder tour with Entombed by North America. They are financially cheated by the manager of Sweden. Then Exhorder break from the tour and travel rather a second time through Europe. You will hardly supported by Roadrunner, so dissolve Exhorder frustrated.

Thomas is increasing almost in a Corrosion of Conformity, but eventually decides to call his own band Penalty to life. Penalty must be renamed for legal reasons Floodgate. 1996 appears Floodgate debut Penalty, with which, together with Sepultura the band tours through Europe. Furthermore, Thomas jumped briefly as a singer of the band Trouble and Alabama Thunderpussy and can be heard on the album Roadrunner United. Jay Ceravolo was still active in the band Fall From Grace. Of the other musicians no further projects are known.

Exhorder since spring 2008 active again and working on new material.
