Exoporia

Small hop - rootworm ( Korscheltellus lupulinus )

Exoporia is a taxon of butterflies (Lepidoptera ) within the suborder Glossata. It includes the two superfamilies Mnesarchaeoidea and Hepialoidea.

Features

The very well-reasoned monophyly of the taxon based on the unique shape of the female genitalia. The Begattungsöffnung ( ostium bursae ) is of the locating hole ( Oviporus ) is separated and ventrad ( to the abdominal side ) in front of this, as is the case with the Ditrysia. Unlike this, the two are not connected together. Sperm, which is introduced by the male in the bursa copulatrix has to be transported over the locating hole for the spermatheca. Therefore, the body surface is provided below the guide opening with the characteristic grooves. Also the males have peculiarities on their genitals. My phallus is membranous and lacks both the Protractor - and the retractor muscle. The tenth segment has very well-developed supra-and subrectale muscles. The maximum tripartite Maxillarpalpen are concealed in all types of small and the surrounding squamation. The wing scales have strong secondary grooves in many species. The abdomen has five or six pieces of very many ganglia. Autapomorphies, which have evolved in parallel even in the Lophocoronoidea are condyles posteriorly to the head on the bases of the probe, some of which are highly trained and vastly preferred postapikal wing vein Rs4.

Also characteristic is the structure of the egg shell and embryogenesis. The eggs change color fast black after deposition. The epicraniale indentation at the head of the caterpillar is unusually small. The caterpillars probably have a number of Autapomorphieen on in their hair.

In females, the rootworm ( Hepalidae ) and the Mnesarchaeidae has been demonstrated that they give off pheromones on the hind wings. For details, but has not yet been explored so far.
