Expediency Discernment Council

Expediency, more "assembly for detecting the system interests " (Persian مجمع تشخیص مصلحت نظام, Majma -e Taschchis -e -e Nezam Maslehāt ) is an organ of the Iranian state apparatus and was launched on February 6, 1988 by Ruhollah Khomeini to life.

Function

The Expediency Council has set aside the task of a possible stalemate within the Iranian legislation through a switch. The Guardian checked every law passed by Parliament on the conformity with the Iranian Constitution and Islamic teachings. Find the Guardian contradictions, then the bill is rejected and delegated to the Parliament for revision. The Expediency can convey in this internal conflict between the Guardian Council and the Parliament, and ultimately enforce a law against the transfer of the Guardian Council. Members

The 35 members of the Expediency Council are appointed directly by the Supreme Leader and are composed of representatives of the revolutionary leader, members of the Guardian Council, political and military experts as well as members of the government. The differentiation of the participants will be determined for five years and whose term of office expires experts variable after 3 years in permanent expert. The Expediency Council, which meets at least once a month, decide by a majority vote.
