Expedition style

As an expedition style is a style of climbing, especially in non-alpine areas, respectively. It is characterized by high material and human use. On the way to the mountain carriers are used. On the mountain itself, the route is prepared by laying of fixed ropes and the establishment of several camps. The route is then to perpetrator committed by small cliques, possibly with the assistance of high beams. The descent is rarely directly to the base camp. Often staying climbers in higher camps before the descent.

The expedition style is now considered no more contemporary form of alpinism and in some cases referred to as " Pistenalpinismus ". It is increasingly being replaced in the field of world-class alpinists even with first ascents through the alpine style. Due to the popularization and commercialization of mountaineering in the high mountains in the Himalayas, the Karakoram, the Andes and in North America the number of ascents is there still place in expedition style.
